The Humfrey File

Immerse yourself in the year 1830 and spy on the Prussian fortress with the Royal English engineer officer.

The guide

Immerse yourself in the year 1830 and spy on the Prussian fortress with the Royal English engineer officer. The renowned expert in military and fortress engineering managed to walk around the Prussian fortress, describe it in detail and even record plans. This was an astonishing achievement, given that the fortress was a restricted military area and had only just been completed at the time. Humfrey's descriptions were published a few years later in both English and German. The work appeared freely available to everyone in German bookstores, including Koblenz.
