Day Trip Tips
Koblenz is also ideal as a starting point for exciting day trips–it takes its guests to the most beautiful corners of Germany. Picturesque wine villages of the Moselle region, romantic castles such as Stolzenfels or architectural monuments from past times such as Marksburg Castle can be found in the immediate vicinity. Numerous premium hiking trails, for example the "Dream Trails" lead through the vast natural landscapes of Hunsrück, Westerwald and the volcanic Eifel. The river valleys on the Rhine, Moselle and Lahn complete the offer for cycling and water sports enthusiasts.

Trains run several times a day between Koblenz and Trier. Even if you travel from Luxembourg with the RE 11, they do not have to change trains even once. You have never experienced a more beautiful train ride than on the route with the RB 81 through the Moselle valley. Falling asleep on the train is impossible on this connection. But if it does happen, just get off at the next wine village, try a sip of Riesling and return in complete relaxation.
You have never seen so many castles along a river. Trains run several times a day between Koblenz and Mainz. Even from Frankfurt you can travel quite comfortably without changing trains with the RB 10. Just landed at the airport? Perfect! With the RE 2, you can also travel from the regional train station at Frankfurt Airport to Koblenz without changing trains. Both routes take you past countless castles in the Rhine Valley and offer many opportunities to discover them - often even on foot from the platform!
