Wine and culture
All year round (with advance reservation) | Duration: 5 hours
The Festung Ehrenbreitstein, part of the UNESCO World Heritage "Upper Middle Rhine Valley", you reach on your own with the Seilbahn. Once you have reached the top, your tour guide will welcome you at the Seilbahnstation. During a one-hour guided tour, the special features of the fortress with its 5000-year history will be explained to you.
After the tour, you will have around 30 minutes to linger - enjoy the panoramic view, stroll around the extensive grounds and snap souvenir photos. Afterwards, take a 30-minute walk downhill into the Mühlental valley to Ehrenbreitstein. Your destination is the picturesquely located Göhlen Winery.
The vineyards of the Göhlen family on the sunny steep slopes of the "Ehrenbreitsteiner Kreuzberg", have been cultivated for decades. The skilful handling of the characteristics of the grape varieties guarantees a varied and qualitative offer. Here you can expect a one and a half hour, expertly commented 5 wine tasting of selected wines combined with an interesting cellar tour.
You can return to Koblenz either by bus directly from the Mühlental or, quite conveniently, order a cab directly to the winery.
