Hiking in & around Koblenz

The region is simply hikeable!

In Koblenz and the region, a hiking tour means an incomparable nature experience. Explore our fantastic hiking trails and afterwards stop at a rustic inn or a cozy wine tavern. Plan your next hiking vacation in the region and immerse yourself in the beautiful nature around Koblenz.

The Rheinsteig

The famous Rheinsteig leads along the right bank of the Rhine for a total length of 320 kilometers through forests and meadows, along narrow paths and vineyards from Bonn via Koblenz to Wiesbaden. The white R on a blue background is the best way to mark the main trail. If you see a yellow marking, you are on an access route and are already on your way. The Rheinsteig is perfect for exploring in stages - there are 21 in total - or as a day hike from Koblenz. It is advisable to take a look at the Rheinsteig website beforehand. Here you will find all the information you need on the level of difficulty, trail conditions and points of interest.

Stage 10, for example, leads from Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein to Lahnstein and offers leisurely forest paths as well as the spectacular Ruppertsklamm gorge shortly before the stage finish. Sure-footedness is required here and beautiful nature is guaranteed.

The Rheinsteig is one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in Europe. With its 320 kilometers of idyllic landscapes, forests, vineyards, meadows and castles, it invites both ambitious long-distance hikers and short-distance hikers.

The RheinBurgenWeg

On the other side of the Rhine, you will find the RheinBurgenWeg. The name says it all, because not only do you always walk along the Rhine - sometimes more, sometimes less directly - but you also have spectacular views of castles and palaces in the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Masterpieces of Rhenish architecture from the Middle Ages to the 19th century are close enough to touch. Just like the Rheinsteig, the hiking trail is a long-distance hiking trail and is divided into a total of 14 stages over a length of around 200 kilometers.

A special highlight is certainly stage 7 from Koblenz to Rhens. The stage starts at the Rittersturz, the place where the important Rittersturz Conference took place. The high-level trail takes you past the famous Schloss Stolzenfels, which is definitely worth a detour. The trail then leads through numerous forests down to Rhens.

The Moselsteig Trail

In 2022, the Moselsteig Trail was once again voted the most beautiful long-distance hiking trail in the ranking of the renowned trekking magazine. This naturally raises high expectations for the 24 stages of the 365-kilometre hiking trail. When you think of the Moselle, you probably think of vineyards and Riesling. Of course, there is also a lot on offer here. But did you know that you can also have an alpine experience on the Moselle? If you want, you can also try your hand at numerous via ferratas here, which will enchant even amateur alpinists. The 24th and final stage of the Moselsteig Trail ends in Koblenz. Of course, you can also set off from here and start the Moselsteig Trail adventure in the opposite direction.

The 24 stages take you through picturesque villages, forests and vineyards as well as along the banks of the Moselle. The Moselsteig Trail connects Koblenz with the border town of Perl, 365 kilometers away. This makes it not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the longest long-distance hiking trails in the whole of Germany.
