On the trail of the attacker

Appointment on request | Duration: approx. 2 hours (2 km)

The guide

The Festung Ehrenbreitstein, located on the rocky spur above the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Upper Middle Rhine Valley". The complex is part of a system of military fortifications around the city of Koblenz, but not only boasts 5,000 years of history, but also a magnificent panorama and a lively cultural center with interesting exhibitions. You can stroll through the complex for several hours. Experience how history comes to life during the two-hour guided tour along a circular route along original historical sites, from the Roman fortifications and knights' castles to the Prussian fortress: What would attack and defense have looked like at the fortress? How did soldiers live and what weapons did they fight with? Find out how the Prussian art of fortification was able to create this building and take a look inside the complex.
